![]() Of course the greatest mystery linked to Nicholas Flamel is the story of what happened after he died. Perhaps he had discovered the secret of the Philosopher's Stone: how to turn base metal into gold. He became extraordinarily wealthy and used some of his great wealth to found hospitals, churches, and orphanages. Although the book itself is lost, the illustrations from the text still exist.Īccompanied by his wife Perenelle, Nicholas spent more than 20 years trying to translate book. It, too, really existed and Nicholas Flamel left us with a very detailed description of the copper-bound book. One day he bought a book, the same book mentioned in The Alchemyst: the Book of Abraham. He was born in 1330 and earned his living as a bookseller, which, by another of those wonderful coincidences, was the same job I had for many years. Nicholas Flamel was one of the most famous alchemists of his day. It also gave me the character of Nicholas Flamel because, up to that point, the book was without a hero.Īnd Nicholas Flamel brought so much to the story. These are the stories which simply will not go away until you get them down on paper, where you find yourself coming across precisely the research you need, or discovering the perfect character or, in my case, actually stumbling across Nicholas Flamel's house in Paris.ĭiscovering Flamel's house was the final piece I needed to put the book together. Most stories wait their turn to be told, but there are a few which tap you on the shoulder and insist on being told. Most writers know they will probably never write the vast majority of those ideas. Ten years later, almost to the day, The Alchemyst, the first book in the Nicholas Flamel series, will be published in May.Įvery writer I know keeps a notebook full of those ideas, which might, one day, turn into a story. For thunder there's Nadine."Some stories wait their turn to be told, others just tap you on the shoulder and insist you tell them."īy one of those wonderful coincidences with which life is filled, I find that the first time the word alchemyst-with a Y-appears in my notes is in May 1997. Victoria can heal, although she'd also want units that bleed to make the most out of her (e.g., Nails), Alice can heal as well. Fire is notoriously lacking in the healer department right now, which is I think on purpose since they designed primarily as a DPS element.Having a long cooldown makes it a bit awkward to use, but it's an undoubtedly powerful skill. Nemesis is a solid unit as well, although I'd say best paired with another converter like Beverly or Gronru since their skills are available from the start of battle, and are on a lower cooldown.Converters in general are good units, if you're running a mono-fire team or a dual fire/thunder team she's solid. They make units noticeably stronger but they aren't really musts, I think. Some breakthrough's don't need character amber (the unit-specific item gained from dupe pulls) but these tend to be less exciting like +HP or Def. It has the added twist of requiring Solamber as well, which you also get from gacha pulls. It's a similar system, get dupes to make your character stronger.Healers in particular are very good, at least 1 is preferred. Having the ability to change tiles to that of your main team makes the game feel so much better.Detonator and sniper - both DPS classes, with Detonators focusing on AoE hits and Snipers on single target hitsSupporters - Units that heal or increase your attack/defense. Converter - probably the most important class, you'd want at least 1-2 per team so that you'd be able to maximize your unit's skills (I'm assuming you're running a mono team, one that is composed of units with the same element).I’m gay so I’m not a good judge on best girl, but she’s amazing and I agree.I’ve been using the 4* healer Alice for my fire team who has a shield skill and heal on combo, not sure about light. Her chain combo also gives you defense buffs with her ascension. Plus, like I said, she has her chain combo with snipe. She allows for easy access to enemies, has knockback, does good damage, and has a fairly short recharge on her skill. She is insanely good, especially for a 5*. Imo, she’s one of the best units since she combines snipers and convertors. ![]()
